Getting an United Kingdom Student Visa

To secure your United Kingdom Student Visa as a UniGo student, you must first obtain a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from your university, which acts as the official digital foundation for your application. Alongside this, you’ll need to demonstrate English proficiency and meet the latest financial requirements by showing you have held sufficient funds covering your outstanding tuition and living costs for at least 28 consecutive days in a regulated bank account. For courses starting in 2026, you must show £1,483 per month for study in London or £1,136 per month for the rest of the UK (calculated for up to 9 months). The process is completed online via the GOV.UK portal, where you will pay the visa fee (approx. £490) and the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) to access the NHS. Once you’ve submitted your biometrics at a local center, standard processing typically takes three weeks, clearing you to land in Britain and launch your global career.

Fall Intake (August/September)

The UK’s largest intake with the widest choice of courses and the most significant scholarship funding. As the official start of the British academic year, the September (Fall) intake is recommended for students seeking maximum program flexibility across all levels, from undergraduate degrees to specialized Master’s programs. This is the only window where every major institution, including the prestigious Russell Group, opens its full catalog of courses. By starting in autumn, you’ll experience the height of campus life with “Freshers’ Week,” gain early access to competitive internships, and align perfectly with the UK’s graduate recruitment cycles.

Spring Intake (January)

A high-value secondary intake that offers a flexible alternative to the traditional academic year. Known as the Winter or Spring intake, this window is perfect for students who need extra time to finalize their applications, funding, or English test scores. While it features a more curated selection of courses compared to September, it remains a powerhouse for Postgraduate and Master’s degrees, particularly in Business, Data Science, IT, and Engineering. By starting in January, you benefit from smaller class sizes, more personalized mentorship from lecturers, and a smoother transition into the UK job market by graduating during a unique hiring window with less competition.

Summer Intake (May/June)

A specialized, mid-year entry point designed for speed and tactical academic starts. While it offers a more selective range of courses compared to the major September window, the May intake is a “pro move” for students targeting Foundation programs, Pre-Masters, or professional MBAs. It is the ideal choice if you missed earlier deadlines and want to avoid waiting until the following year to start your British journey. By arriving in late spring, you benefit from the UK’s best weather, smaller class sizes with more direct access to faculty, and a significantly less crowded visa processing period.
