The “Bologna” Global Edge

Gateway to a Borderless Career

Getting an Europe Student Visa

To secure your European Student Visa (Long-Stay Type D) as a UniGo student, you must first obtain a formal Letter of Admission from a recognized university within the Schengen Area. Since requirements are strictly enforced for 2026, you’ll need to demonstrate financial self-sufficiency typically through a “Blocked Account” (such as Germany’s requirement of €11,904) or a certified bank statement showing accessible liquid funds for the duration of your first year. Alongside this, you must provide proof of Schengen-compliant health insurance with a minimum coverage of €30,000 and, in some cases, a residency or accommodation contract. Once your documents are attested, you’ll submit your biometrics at a local consulate or VFS Global center, with processing generally taking four to twelve weeks, eventually granting you the legal right to study and travel freely across all 29 Schengen member states.

Fall Intake (August/September)

The primary academic window for 2026, offering the maximum selection of English-taught programs and full scholarship access. This is the only intake where every major European university from Germany to the Netherlands opens its full catalog of courses. By starting in September, you align with the continental hiring cycle and secure the best chance at subsidized housing.

Spring Intake (January)

A high-value mid-year entry point for 2026, offering a flexible start for those who need more time for preparations or missed the autumn rush. While it features a more curated selection of English-taught programs compared to September, the January (Winter) intake is a powerhouse for Postgraduate degrees and Master’s programs in Business, Data Science, and Engineering. By starting in January, you often benefit from lower competition, faster visa processing times at consulates, and smaller class sizes that allow for more direct interaction with faculty.

Summer Intake (May/June)

A strategic mid-year gateway for students targeting Foundation years, language pathways, or professional MBAs. While the course selection is more specialized than the September peak, the May/June intake offers the fastest visa processing times and the best availability for student housing. It’s the perfect “pro move” to settle into Europe and master the local language before the main academic year begins.
